Nikon Get-Together

On Sunday morning, I went to Central Market for KUL sign Festival 2012 thinking of capturing some BMX and skateboarding action shots. Out of my expectation, when I walked around central market before the event starts, I saw a group of Nikon shooters shooting a model. I’m thinking that how nice if I can join.

And to my surprise again, the event was open to all nikonclub members for free! And there’s more than 1 model for us to practice! Really surprising for me! So, trying my very first time and my very best, the results are shown below. These are my favourite shots. =)

Hope to get some critiques. Thanks

Dogathon 2011

Dogathon is an annual event held by Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University Putra Malaysia. Every year, Dog owners and dog lovers came from all around the country to join this once a year event. I’ve heard of this event years before but don’t have the chance to go and have a look.

This year, I had some free time to experience this event and I can capture some dogs photos. From here, I learned how to wait for the moment and tried my very best to get as low as I could every time I take a shot of  a dog. I’m quite satisfied with this events photos as I keep myself thinking while shooting, training myself not to simply shoot and delete afterwards.

I brought 3 lenses there, which are 18-70, 55-200 and 50 1.8. Because there’s ample of space around, I can go shoot around with my 55-200 without any hassle to change lens.

Provincetown Carnival 2011

Provincetown, MA is famous as the town that widely accept homosexual or gay and lesbians. Provincetown will hold an annual event, which is Provincetown Carnival every year which includes parade, parties, and many more. This year, Provincetown Carnival was held on 18th August 2011 at the Commerical Street of Provincetown. Many gays and lesbians all over USA and some from France came here to join this once a year Big Carnival.

I took 3 hours to travel to Provincetown and only enjoyed the Carnival for 1 hour because I have to rush on the last bus back to Chatham. I believe it’ll be more exciting if I got the chance to stay longer at the Carnival! It’s worth the effort to go to the event! Truly nice experience!

Here’s how the crowd is, not even night time yet.

When I reached Provincetown, I was so surprised to see people sit and stand on rooftop to watch the parade, this is how crowded it is that day. Did you notice, almost all are topless and wearing underwear only? ;)

Due to transportation problem, I have no choice but to catch up the last bus from Provincetown back to Chatham. I heard from my friend, he said after the parade, there’s a party on the beach. There’s a platform built on the beach, and people, most are gays just go up to ‘have fun’. I can’t imagine how big is the platform, because I was told that around 3000 people are on the platform, squeezing each other while enjoying themselves up there.

Besides that, he told me that it’s normal for those gays to show their penis to others and touch others’ penis. I can’t imagine how embarrass I will be if I saw those ‘beautiful’ scene. That’s their culture! ;)

With my limited one hour, I tried my best to hunt for nice shots in the parade. Despite working hard on nice shots, I still enjoyed being there, enjoyed and amazed on their special culture and colourful street decoration and creative costumes. It’s just too common to see strong and muscular men wearing high heels and only underwear on the street that day.

Here’s my favourite photos of the event, enjoy!

I think photos are not enough to justify how amazing the parade is, so let’s have some video clips to let you really feel the fun there!

That’s all! Provincetown Carnival 2011!

ChESS night 2011

What is ChESS night? What’s ChESS stands for?

Here’s the answer: Chemical Engineering Student Society

ChESS night that was held on 2nd March 2011 was themed ‘Heaven and Hell’, rather daring and special theme to be set.

But it turns out that everyone loves the theme and enjoyed the night.

I think lots of UNMC students love to be devil rather than angel huh? =)

The very first performance was by Dr. Sergey Spotar, our fluid mechanics awesome lecturer that performed malaguena and another piece of song. Although sometimes we can’t get what he was saying because of his Russian slang, but I actually miss his attractive voice and funniness in the class. Here’s the video of his performance.

He’s handsome, right?

Next up, it was a band performance lead by this awesome girl that brought the atmosphere to another high point. Rock n’ Roll!

Favourite photo of the night

Drummer

After that, it was a drama performance related to the Heaven and Hell theme. So, here’s those beautiful girls that are the DEVILS! I’ve recorded the drama performance handheld, a very tiring experience recording a video using telephoto lens trying to be as stable as I could, but the video turn out to be very shaky. =( Anyway, here’s the performance of the night, Alex, Grace and Xinyi were famous because of the performance!

The Devils

Another highlight of ChESS night was fashion show, performed by lengluis and lengzais.

Between Angel and Devil.

How can you miss the devil horns when you’re at the Heaven and Devil ChESS night? There you go!

How cute it was to have a ‘Love’ in between the devil horns. XD

The performance was great that night, it was better than CCS night, the bands and drama were awesome! But there’s a few moment of cold situation during the Best dress award and lucky draw ceremony because of lack of experience by the the emcee. But overall, I personally like that night a lot. So far it was the best event I attended in UNMC. Anyway, UNMC music talent quest is going to be held on 16th March 2011, I’m looking forward to the night, because I will be the official photographer for that night. Woots! Hope it will be better than ChESS night! Go GO GO MTQ 2011!

CCS night Lantern Festival 2011

Did you enjoy your Chinese New year? get lots of angpau?

It was a satisfied one for me although I knew that happiness and childhood fun time do fades as time goes by. We grow older, and the fun gets further.

But anyway, when you lose something, you’ll gain something different. This is life.

This year, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus’s Chinese society has organized a Lantern Festival or known as 元宵celebration, contributing some CNY mood to the chinese community in this Uni. I’ve attended the event with my fellow friends that was held on 22nd feb 2011. Although there’s nothing fancy or exciting that night, but when you’re together with your friends, simple performance and games can bring priceless joy and memory to you. I appreciate every moment spent with my uni friends, as I know, this is the last place where I can find true friends before stepping out to the realistic society.

Friends

Personally, I felt that the event is quite messy, it looks organized, but somehow I got a feeling of quite lost and don’t know what to do most of the time when I was there.

The programmes are not that excited which include singing performance, orchestra performance, chinese orchestra performance, Diablo performance, and some talking show. Oh ya, and not to forget there’s some team building activities that were going on in the middle of the event. Well, what I could see is, every committee  did their very best to commit to this voluntary work to help this event go as smooth as it can.

Kudos, very very appreciate your hardwork!

But just some suggestion from a visitor, lack of sound system at the outside booth to boost the CNY mood. This may be was the main factor that make me felt quite lost and not enough CNY mood. Still, congrats for overall success on this event. I dare not comment much on the food sold that day, because I’ve just ate an egg tart and half a cup of ‘liong cha’. haha, But as I can see there’s lots of leftover after the event, sooooo, yeah, you can guess how’s the food was. No comment. :/

So, here’s some of the performance photo:

Lastly, after taking many photos and videos of the event, finally got the chance to take a photo with my friend, vivian at the end of the event. haha.

Once again, Happy CNY!

Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010

KLIMS’10 was rather disappointing and uninteresting compare to previous years KLIMS. Cars and bikes available for show are too less, just a few pathetic one or 2 cars from some big brand, eg: honda, lexus, toyota. It’s more like Kuala Lumpur International Model Show than Motor Show. Show are rather dull compared to previous years with performance, dancing etc. Ticket pricing is also an issue as online booking cost RM23, buy on spot cost RM20. 3 ringgit extra charge is too significantly heavy for such event.

Furthermore, KLIMS’10 was trying to promote their event by using bamblebee and batman’s mobile. But to our dismay, batman mobile is rather awful because of its quality. It’s more like styrofoam project work from some art college rather than a vehicle itself. Such a disgrace to use batman’s mobile as their promoting tactic. Nevertheless, Proton and Perodua, as our national brand, did a good job in showing their concept cars which is rather good in design and quality build. Bravo!
