Orang Asli, as being the local here in Malaysia decades before I was born, is usually being less educated and living in rather rural area. Through AIESEC in University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus Forward Project, that aims to educate the children, in terms of academic and also personality development, we try our best to outreach the orang asli and put in our best effort contribute back to this unique ethnic here in Malaysia.

AIESEC – Big Family

AIESEC have changed my life.

Recently, I just participated AIESEC Award Night 2012 at 21st Century, Kajang. From the event itself, I have a few thoughts and feelings in my mind and heart. It’s been a wonderful journey for me this second year of University studies, and it was all because of AIESEC.

Thinking back, initially I joined AIESEC is purely for fun, and under peer influence. I have no idea what’s going to be by joining AIESEC. A 3 rounds application plus interview sessions to be successfully recruited as member have made me proud of myself. Since then, the fun begins. I was assigned to a department named ICX – In coming exchange where we handle stuff like bringing in foreign students to participate in local charity programmes and also starting to establish a better foundation in bringing in Internship candidates to work for local companies. I have used to the jobs and work load, and lucky me to be the first few to learn a lot in this department.

By attending meetings, joining events, conference, talks, planning out activities, I had the chance to know a bunch of friends, which are also passionate in serving for AIESEC. Getting to know each and every anonymous individual until today where we are standing right now, it was a very pleasant experience for me. It wouldn’t be the same without knowing anyone of them. We have tears, have joy, have fun, have tough time, and most important, we have gained friendship. Hereby, I would really love to express my deepest gratitude to them, for being with me for a wonderful year.

I’m in a big family of AIESEC.

Books

Recently, Malaysia Government sponsored us University Students book voucher worth RM200. They hardly give out these benefits to us, students, and this is the first time we got such benefit. So this is how i spent my RM200 buying 3 books that I think worth while. =]

This books writes about life of the legendary Steve Jobs with over 40 interview with him over the past 2 years. It’s a very thick book, and I wish I can finish it and get inspired from him. =]

While this, is a manual that provides many possible strobing ideas, showing you example image of lighthing setups, teaching you possible ways to light your object. I find this small little booklet really useful, straight forward in providing ideas of Lighting technique. Just going to experiment with the ideas and see the results!

While this book, is also the same as the previous book, but with more explaination in theory and providing task for you to follow, guiding you to light up your object perfectly.

Why I chose these 2 photography books out of hundreds of other choice from KIinokuniya? It’s because I want to focus on learning lighting setups, because photography is all about painting with light. Without a good quality, quantity and ratio of highlights, shadows, a photo will never be able to express it’s full potential in creating a wonderful image.  I hope with these 2 books, I can improve my ligthing skill and my photos will leap to another higher standard in the near future.

Anticipating…

Now, I’m suffering from exam period which will only end on 19th January 2012. Then, it’s HO-LI-DAY!

And I prepared a list of movies I wanted to watch in the 2 weeks CNY break. Just a reminder for myself.

法证先锋 III

Captain America

Real Steel

MI : Ghost Protocol

Laughing Gor 之 潜罪犯

And, I’m going to take out my camera again, do some shooting, polish my skills!

Anticipating for it!

那些年。。。

oh yeah, Grilling!

After we started working in CBI, with morning shift, afternoon shift and night shift, we seldom have the chance to have most of us at home. On one evening, by coincidence, we get to have the rare chance to gather most of us together to have a small grilling party.

With some last minutes planning, we manage to decide to make a grill party and so we went to buy foods, beverage and drinks immediately.

Chicken wings~

Let’s grill!

here we are, at our backyard having fun with the grilling pit.

Enjoying tasty grill bacon!

Our cutest house mate – bih guok

Priceless moment it was!

Time Flies. Another month of work, then we’ll continue travelling again.

Off Day!

Yesterday was my precious off day, once a week! Initially I asked to work on my off day as well, but too bad, CBI is cutting cost, so no extra hours/working days for me. But nvm, I told myself to enjoy this precious off day and I did.

Early in the morning, woke up at 7 without alarm clock ringing, this is very normal to me because on my working days, I will wake at 5. So 7 is already considered as bonus sleeping hour. Slowly after tidy up, getting ready, ate my breakfast slowly, and I departed to Cape Cod Mall at 10am.

This tiny flower caught my attention and so, It’s captured by my trusty ‘eye’

Do you like it?

Next, I saw this weird looking, looks fake flower.

To go to Cape Cod Mall, first I need to take Hyannis to Orleans Line till Hyannis Transportation Centre(HTC), then change to Barnstable Villager line to Cape Cod Mall. The whole duration is about 2 hours. Cape Cod Mall is quite a big shopping complex with varies fashion stores and has a food court that serves quite a lot of asian cuisine. So when I reach there at 1, I went to the Cinema, call ‘Regal Cinema’ to check out Harry Potter 7′s schedule and price of the movie. It was US$7.50 for 2D version but US$11 for 3D version. The popcorn here is expensive, it cost around the same price as the movie ticket. So I just bought myself a 1.15 HP7 movie ticket and yeah, can’t wait to enjoy my first movie in the state. Ending of Harry Potter!

Fortunately, the auditorium for my session faced some technical problem on sounds system, so we’re compensate with 3D movie instead of 2D. Yeah! I watched in 3D for 2D price! =D Although I didn’t watch the first part of deathly Hallows, but the second part is still awesome like always. 5 stars for HP7! :)

After my movie, I’m super hungry, so here I go to the food Court to have my late lunch at 4pm. This thai cuisine attracted me with its spicy and tasty thai food, add on I’m hungry like hell, I didn’t wait for any longer to get my US$6 2 dish thai food! What I get for the dishes? one is mango chicken, and one is thai chicken, both are nice! Feels so good to enjoy such spicy food after 2 months in America. American hardly eat spicy foods and that’s why, chili sauce is very very rare here. Hmm~! yum yum for the thai food!

After satisfying my stomach, I get going to look around, find some clothes or anything for myself. I only manage to get in Macy’s to look around for clothes, but due to time constrain, I couldn’t get anything in the end, But I’m sure I will come back to Cape Cod Mall to shop when I got other free day :)

What’s these 2 cards? One is Macy’s cool membership card, so in love with the creative jeans design card.  And the other Card? Oh! it’s the chatham public library membership card! After I get this card, I can motivate myself to read more books when I’m free, and do some research for coming travel plans.

So, that’s my off day! Enjoyed it very much! :)

A bike tour to Monomoy National wildlife Refuge

Chatham is a very nice location that is full of natural reserve forests, beach and also lakes. One of the nearest to our house at Chatham is the Monomoy Natural Wildlife Refuge.  On one random evening, we decided to bike to this national wildlife refuge for some exploration. It’s very exciting to have a group of friends to bike together and take photos together. Just like what we are going to do later at San Francisco! :)

So, Let’s Go!

On our way, we pass by an empty field that made me stop immediately to take picture of it! I simply love that beautiful moment, But too bad, what camera can capture is always not as beautiful as what our eyes can see.  I tried my best to capture the scene and here you go, my favourite chatham scene so far :)

So we continue cycle and cycle…..

And I stop and shoot, stop and shoot….

Passed by this wonderful lake but at the wrong timing to get the best shot, but nvm, still a beautiful one :)

And there we are, Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge!

Yahoo! We ♥ USA!

And the wave comes by… it’s a beautiful beach with some boats on the sea, rocking with the wave…

Yup, We’re here!

Big rocks near the shore seldom can be seen and because of everyday wash and dry by the water and sun, algae forms on the rocks and here we go, Green rocks! Looks very interesting!

Sunset

I like this random shot, unexpected accidental shot.

So, after walking on the beach, we continue to explore the forest. The trees and plants here are quite special or can be said spooky, it’s like those scenes in Lord of the rings, very spooky especially when the day is getting dark o.o

Nevertheless, we still took photo in this spooky forest. haha!

Here’s also one of my favourite shot from that day,

The trail

And this is my favourite group Photo :)

After some sightseeing arounud the lake, we walked out the forest before it’s totally dark and bike back to home. :)

It’s a very nice experience to explore with friends and I’ll continue to explore more nature places in Cape Cod and take more photos! That’s my wish :)
