Nikon Get-Together

On Sunday morning, I went to Central Market for KUL sign Festival 2012 thinking of capturing some BMX and skateboarding action shots. Out of my expectation, when I walked around central market before the event starts, I saw a group of Nikon shooters shooting a model. I’m thinking that how nice if I can join.

And to my surprise again, the event was open to all nikonclub members for free! And there’s more than 1 model for us to practice! Really surprising for me! So, trying my very first time and my very best, the results are shown below. These are my favourite shots. =)

Hope to get some critiques. Thanks

Books

Recently, Malaysia Government sponsored us University Students book voucher worth RM200. They hardly give out these benefits to us, students, and this is the first time we got such benefit. So this is how i spent my RM200 buying 3 books that I think worth while. =]

This books writes about life of the legendary Steve Jobs with over 40 interview with him over the past 2 years. It’s a very thick book, and I wish I can finish it and get inspired from him. =]

While this, is a manual that provides many possible strobing ideas, showing you example image of lighthing setups, teaching you possible ways to light your object. I find this small little booklet really useful, straight forward in providing ideas of Lighting technique. Just going to experiment with the ideas and see the results!

While this book, is also the same as the previous book, but with more explaination in theory and providing task for you to follow, guiding you to light up your object perfectly.

Why I chose these 2 photography books out of hundreds of other choice from KIinokuniya? It’s because I want to focus on learning lighting setups, because photography is all about painting with light. Without a good quality, quantity and ratio of highlights, shadows, a photo will never be able to express it’s full potential in creating a wonderful image.  I hope with these 2 books, I can improve my ligthing skill and my photos will leap to another higher standard in the near future.
